The term 'Spring Tide' as it applies to the area of coastlines can be defined as ' a tide that occurs at or near the time of new or full moon, and which rises highest and falls lowest from the mean sea level (msl)'.

The term 'Spring Tide' as it applies to the area of the weather can be defined as ' A tide higher than normal which occurs around the time of the new and full moon'.
